Walt Disney’s Frozen 2 got bumper opening at the box office. The movie almost collected $400 million at the global box office in a span of just 4 days. In the US only, the film grabs around $125 million in just 3 days. The movie hit the theater on November 22. The movie beat the box office record set in June by Disney-owned Pixar’s Toy Story 4, which opened to $240.9m globally.
“We are definitely thrilled,” said Cathleen Taff, Disney’s president of theatrical distribution. “It is not easy to follow up on the original Frozen. We are cautiously optimistic the film continues to have legs. I think we are going to have a good run.”
Frozen 2 is a sequal of the 2013 Academy Award winner Frozen. Frozen 2 is a story of two sisters Anna and Elsa and their kingdom Arendelle. Elsa, Anna, along with their friends Kristoff, Olaf and Sven go to a journey far beyond the gates of Arendelle in search of answers.
By the end of the second week, it’s gross collection reached $738.6 million (~Rs. 5,297 crores). In the second week, it collected a total of 249.2 million (~Rs. 1,787 crores) around the globe. In India, it’s a total collection for first and the second week has been estimated to be Rs. 35.56 crores. In the second week only it collected around Rs. 9.25 crores.
