Update: Huawei claimed that it is selling 100,000 units per month for its first foldable Mate X phone in China.

The phone was launched in October, last year, in China.  It is the first foldable smartphone from the company. The phone was unveiled at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2019 event in February this year.

Mate X specifications

The phone is available starting November at the price of CNY 16,999 (Rs. 1,68,000 $2,400).

Mate X specifications

The phone has a 6.6-inch front screen and a 6.38-inch back screen and can unfold for a combined 8-inch display. When folded, the smartphone has a 6.38-inch screen at the back, which can be used too. The Huawei Mate X is 5.4mm thick at its thinnest point when unfolded. When you open it, the Huawei Mate X has a thickness of 11mm. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X features a borderless design with no notch or punch-hole camera. The smartphone is powered by extremely powerful Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor, which is used in the Mate 20 Pro and the Honor View 20. The Huawei Mate X has 8GB RAM and 512GB Storage.

It is powered by an in-house Barong 5000 modem for 5G support. Huawei says its 5G modem offers double the speed than industry rivals. It claims that one 1GB movie can be downloaded in just 3 seconds.

Mate X sports 3 camera setup with Leica technology. The tri-camera system on the phone feels like a more measured approach versus Samsung’s overkill. The power button and fingerprint sensor are placed on the side. The phone features a dual-cell 4,500mAh battery that can reportedly be charged to 85 percent in just half an hour with 55W fast charging.
