Apple‘s iPhone XR is the best selling smartphone globally in 2019, Omdia, a market research firm reported. Last year, Apple shipped 46.3 million units of iPhone XR and making it the best selling smartphone. In comparison, Apple managed to sell 37.3 million units of iPhone 11 in 2019 that makes it a second best selling phone of the year.
“Apple has consistently owned the first and second positions in the global smartphone model shipment ranking, with the company maintaining this dominant position for more than five years running,” Jusy Hong, smartphone research and analysis director at Omdia, said.
While the first two positions are captured by Apple, 2nd, 3rd and 4th are occupied by the Korean tech giant Samsung. Samsung Galaxy A10 with 30.3 million units sold is in the third position, Galaxy A50 with 24.2 million units at fourth and Galaxy A20 with 23.1 million units at the fifth position. Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max with 17.6 million units is at sixth and iPhone 8 with 17.4 million units is placed at 7th place.
