We have already seen the foldable smartphone from Samsung and Huawei. Samsung unveiled its smartphone Galaxy Fold on the first day of the MWC 2019 event, while Huawei unveiled its foldable smartphone Mate X on the 2nd day of the event. After both these companies, it seems like Xiaomi is next in line to release their foldable phone. Today, Xiaomi has shared a video of its foldable phone. The teaser was shared by Xiaomi co-founder Lin Bin.
The ten-second video shows a person using the foldable phone browsing through some articles. The smartphone is then folded from both sides and placed on top of a cup noodles box. Teaser also confirms that Xiaomi foldable phone will run on the company’s custom MIUI based on Android. Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone is different than that of Samsung and Huawei.
A couple of months back, Xiaomi shared the images of its upcoming phone. Company president and co-founder Lin Bin had confirmed the launch via tweet. He said in his post that the form factor, which “perfectly merges the experience” of a phone and a tablet, is the result of the company’s work on foldable displays, folding hinges, and other technical challenges. He also said that it’s just a prototype at this point and that the company “will consider mass producing it” if it gets positive feedback from consumers online.
Xiaomi is planning to launch the phone by the end of this quarter.
