Tencent offers $148 to acquire the Norwegian gaming company Funcom. The offer will valid for 5 weeks starting February 5. Tencent already owns the 29% shares of Funcom. Funcom is famous for its games such as Conan Exiles and Age of Conan games. Tencent is one of the biggest video game companies in the world. It already owns many big developers including Riot Games, Epic, Ubisoft, Paradox, and Frontier. Currently, it is competing with Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo.
“Tencent has a reputation for being a responsible long-term investor, and for its renowned operational capabilities in online games,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais at the time. “The insight, experience, and knowledge that Tencent will bring are of great value to us and we look forward to working closely with them as we continue to develop great games and build a successful future for Funcom.”
