Google Chromecast Ultra gets NCC certification


Update April 30, 2020: Google Chromecast Ultra, gets NCC (National Communications Commission) certification. It means Google is planning to launch the device soon. The Chromecast Ultra has two devices–a Chromecast Ultra dongle and remote control. NCC documents suggest Google refers to Chromecast Ultra as GPJ110 and the remote control unit as GPJ100 moniker.

According to a new report from 9to5Google, the new Chromecast device will come with Android TV. So you will run apps like Netflix, Hotstar, without relying on apps with Cast support. It will support 4K HDR content, and connectivity options will include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The TV will come with a dedicated remote. The remote will be used to turn volume and switch channels. It will support Google Assistant and a built-in microphone. It will have around finish and a “G” logo at the top. The remote also passed through the FCC.

As of now, we don’t know when Google will launch the new Chromecast as Google’s annual I/O 2020 event gets canceled due to Coronavirus concerns.
