Facebook-owned WhatsApp is testing a new feature which will help users to verify forward messages. This will help to curb the spread of fake news and misinformation. The feature has been spotted by the WABetaInfo in the latest beta.
The feature will allow users to search “forward messages” on the web. The forward messages will feature a glass icon. Tapping on the glass icon will open a Google search page. Once you run the search, Google will run and check the authenticity of the message. Post the search result WhatsApp will label those messages which will be fake and full of misinformation.
WhatsApp also confirmed the testing of the feature. However, the feature is still not available for public beta.
