review: AirPods-2

Apple AirPods 2 specifications

The new Airpods 2 is powered by the new Apple-designed H1 chip. The new chip enables faster switching between Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch) while listening to music, lower audio latency for some games where the graphics and audio would be out of sync on AirPods 1.

This is the first pair of Pods to feature hands-free Siri. Instead of tapping, you can summon the Siri using ‘Hey Siri’ command. The new H1 chipset makes talk to Siri more easily. Unlike the original set, these new AirPods are always listening, so there’s less fumbling for your phone involved when you need to ask Apple’s virtual assistant a question. Apple claims that AirPods 2 can last 5 hours on a single charge. Talk time has increased by 50 percent from two hours on AirPods 1 to three hours on AirPods 2.

The magnetic charging case holds the extra battery to get you around 24 hours of total listening time.

Beats says the new Powerbeats Pro is “23 percent smaller than its predecessor and 17 percent lighter.” The earbuds are water and sweat resistance, so you shouldn’t have any trouble with moisture while you’re at the gym or on a run. Like AirPods and Powerbeats3, the new Powerbeats Pro pair instantly with iPhones and pairing syncs to iCloud-connected devices including iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch without pairing on each device.

The new beats earbuds come with improved call quality. Beats used a speech-detecting accelerometer in each earbud and two beam-forming microphones per side target your voice and filter out external sounds such as wind and ambient noise.
