ISRO set to launch electronic intelligence satellite ‘EMISAT’ on April 1

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch an electronic intelligence satellite (EMISAT) for the Defence Development and Research Organisation (DRDO) on April 1 in space. For the first time, ISRO will use technology that will put the satellites in 3 different orbits.

The launch will take place at 9:30 AM IST from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Prades, and whole flight sequence will take about 180 minutes.

Apart from EMISAT, the rocket will also carry 28 third-party satellites along with themselves. Of these, 24 are from the US, two from Lithuania, and one each from Spain and Switzerland.

The PSLV rocket will first put the 436 kg Emisat into a 749 km orbit. After that, the rocket will put the 28 satellites into orbit, at an altitude of 504 km. After that rocket will further be brought down to 485 km when the fourth stage/engine will turn into a payload platform carrying three experimental payloads.
