Black Hole can be of different sizes. Some can be very small, some can be medium-sized and some can be gigantic and some can be super gigantic. Now it seems that scientists have discovered a new super gigantic Black Hole. It is the biggest Black Hole discovered by scientist as of now. The Black Hole is sized at about 40 billion times the mass of the Sun.
The Black Hole is at the center of a galaxy called Holmberg 15A, a supergiant elliptical galaxy around 700 million light-years away, and resides at the center of the Abell 85 galaxy cluster.
The size of the black hole is measured using a method called direct dynamical calculations. “We use orbit-based, axisymmetric Schwarzschild models to analyze the stellar kinematics of Holm 15A from new high-resolution, wide-field spectral observations obtained with MUSE at the VLT. We find a supermassive black hole (SMBH) with a mass of (4.0 ± 0.80) × 1010 solar masses at the center of Holm 15A,” researchers said.
The observations were made using the Very Large Telescope (VLT) and the multi-unit spectroscopic explorer, which captures and measures images of stars in space.
