It will allow users to make requests using the Alexa app, Alexa built-in phones, or Alexa mobile accessories such as Echo Buds, to interact with apps directly with their voice.
Search: The hands-free will make Alexa o do tasks on your behalf. For instance, you can ask Alexa to open Twitter and give results for #iPhone. Then Alexa will open the app and give you the specific results of the iPhone without any manual intervention.
View more information: If you book an Uber ride with an Alexa app then Alexa will also ask customers whether they want to see the driver’s location on the map, in the app.
Access functionality: It will do any task you want. For instance, if you ask Alexa for Apps to launch TikTok and start recording, it will open the app and start recording without the customer’s intervention.
The feature will be free to use and will be available for Android and iOS.
As of now, it is available as a Developer Preview. Here is how you can try the feature:
- Go to the Amazon Alexa Dev website and request for early access
- Add app and website metadata to your skill.json manifest file
- Edit your skill endpoint to send deep links using skill connection requests
- Test and publish your skill
