Apple will announce the new iPhone models somewhere in September. It is expected that new iPhone models to come with improved cameras. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors), Apple’s new iPhone models will use sensor-shift image stabilization to improved photography.
The sensor-shift technology could bring image stabilization to the ultra-wide-angle sensors for 6.7-inch iPhone models. Currently, iPhone models using optical image stabilization with a wide and Telephoto lens. The main difference between optical image stabilization and sensor image stabilization is that the former is based on lens movement to offset shake while later is based on image sensor movement to offset handshake.
Sensor-shift image stabilization technology will be limited to just one iPhone model (6.7-inch) in 2020. In 2021 new technology will come to two or three iPhone models. Frome 2022, Apple will start using a periscope lens with 5x to 10x optical zoom. Currently Huawei P30 Pro uses a periscope lens with 50x optical zoom.
