Facebook, Tech News

Facebook is reportedly working on a new meme-creation app called Whale. The app will let users to create and share memes with their friends and family. Currently, the app is only available on the Canadian App Store.

The app is being developed by the “NPE Team from Facebook.” It is an internal testing group at Facebook called New Product Experimentation. A whale is the third app from the team. They also created two other games called Aux and Bump. Both these apps were released earlier this month.

Users can create memes using photos or images and apply filters, emojis, etc. The app description says, “share to social media and message threads right from the app.”

Facebook keeps on trying to create new apps to attract teens and youth. It is facing stiff competition from Chine video-sharing app TikTok. In the past two and a half years after its launch outside of China, TikTok grew exponentially and beat other popular apps like Instagram and Snapchat. Currently, it has over 1.5 billion users worldwide.
