Facebook Portal got a few new features. Now Portal users can go live to Facebook Pages and Groups from Portal. Users can hold group calls up to 50 people. Prior to this Group calls were limited to 4 via WhatsApp and 8 via Messenger.

The users can add AI effects to the Portal calls. They can even blur the background or replace it with a pre-selected image using Portal Spaces option. With new update users can share the photos with their friends via Messenger Portal mobile app. The company also allows to send AR virtual cards to celebrate special occasions.

In the coming week, Facebook will add a voice control feature to its Portal device. Once the feature will be rolled out Portal users will start the WhatsApp video calls via the “Hey Portal” command.

Facebook introduced the Portal device last year in September. It costs $149 and ships with a remote controller which can be used to turn the TV off and on. It can stream videos from many third-party apps including Prime Video, Starz, and many more. Facebook Messenger now supports Messenger Rooms.
