Due to pandemic Coronavirus, Indian Railways introduces QR code scanning for contactless entries in trains. The move would help to reduce human-to-human contact.

Passengers who will book tickets online as well as offline will avail of the facility. If users book tickets offline then they will receive QR code in the SMS. If they book tickets online then QR code will be provided in the email.

At the entry point, passengers will need to show the email or SMS having QR code. Railway officials will scan the code from the QR code scanner machine.

“We have made a modification in our ticket reservation system, enabling it to issue a unique QR code to every ticket which can be scanned by the examiners through hand-held terminals or other devices that can scan QR codes,” Moradabad Divisional Railway Manager, Tarun Prakash, said.
