Samsung is still trying to recover the embarrassment that it had to go through before the launch of its foldable phone Galaxy Fold. The company is still fixing on the display issues, but that doesn’t stop it from working on new smartphones.
Samsung Electronics filed a patent with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for an ‘Electronic device including a flexible display with expandable display area’. The patent was approved and published on 6 June 2019 and describes a smartphone with a flexible display that can be extended upward, to create an extra large screen display.
On the upper part of the phone, there would a thick bezel which will be the home to lots of different sensors. The lower part of the phone can be extended upward to create a much larger display. The rolling mechanism works similar to Blackberry Private phone but instead of a QWERTY keyboard, you will get a tall screen in continuity.
Samsung is not the only company working on rollable handsets. Last months LG also announced that they are working on the rollable device and the device will be launch soon.
