In a major security breach, Twitter accounts of high-profile celebrities including Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, Kanya West, Apple, Uber, and many others got hacked, as part of Bitcoin scam. After the incident, Twitter temporarily suspended verified accounts from tweeting.
The scamed tweet was offering to send $2,000 for every $1,000 sent to a Bitcoin address.
“We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter. We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly,” Twitter said in a statement.
“You may be unable to Tweet or reset your password while we review and address this incident,” Twitter said.
Jack Dorsey, CEO Twitter, tweeted, “Tough day for us at Twitter. We all feel terrible this happened.”
Security experts believe that it is one of the worst cyber attacks in history. The attack was a well-coordinated attack and it is a high chance that hackers might access the internal systems and tools of Twitter.
